The origins of the Hermetica are veiled in mystery, with legend telling of the early days when a small group of players engaged in amateurish ranked matches under the banner of the "Hermetica Clan". Guided by Hypnos, Lemmy, Eamzy, Metaphysicsging, Skay and Toolegittoquit these pioneers, known as the Founding Fathers, took the initiative to establish a Steam group chat, marking the official inception of the community within the Age of Empires II DE scene on October 30th, 2020.
Six months later, on August 28th, 2021, the Founding Fathers decided to elevate their community by creating a Discord server, providing a platform for players to gather in voice channels and forge deeper connections. Before long, Hermetica welcomed a cohort of like-minded players, affectionately dubbed The First Wave, which included members such as Mohtal, Henrik, Smiley, Pot of Greed, Monk, ByDangerous, Ronin, and Zachhalil, further enriching the camaraderie and spirit of the group.
Within one year, the server transformed into an ideal platform for fostering an international community, with people coming from all corners of the world. Notably, TheRevMiracle, Kie, StuartCheedle, Western, JadeArrowGamer, known as the Second Wave, and LazyOneKenobi, Golden Royal, Webber, Loki, Sulla, and Sword, as the Third Wave, constituted the bedrock for a supportive and close-knit circle.
In 2023, Hermetica witnessed the arrival of prominent Twitch Casters, professional players, and esteemed names from the global AoE2 scene. The community also begun to host cutting-edge tournaments such as the Battle of The Backseat and the Enigma Cup, aimed at bringing together professional and novice players. Some time later, PM, Benitto Burrito, NPJay, Tomsnuffles, Domis and Scout Rush, known as the Fourth Wave, brought the community to a level of further respect and maturity.
Today, Hermetica's members are united by their passion for AoE2, their commitment to fair play, and their mutual respect. They constantly challenge their skills through a variety of epic battles, including professional tournaments and in-house matches. With an unwavering enthusiasm for personal growth and the forging of new friendships, Hermetica extends an open invitation to players of all backgrounds and skill levels to join this global experience and share their unique stories.
