Welcome aboard the new Project 86.
What are we aiming for?
This 86 fan game project is only at its beginning. The goal is to deliver a working beta as fast as possible, and allow the players to give us feedback on the game to go in the right direction.
This project aims to create an open world, kind of RPG game, unleashing the whole potential of the universe that is 86.
There would be two different kinds of play style:
- The Juggernaut mode (also called FPS). Like the light novel/anime, you would control a juggernaut from inside the cockpit. The variety of juggernaut would be more or less like the series (blades, snipers, rockets, etc.). Eliminating the Legions units and reach the objectives to progress the story mode, or explore the map.
This is the currently developed one.
- The Handler mode (also called RTS). As a handler, you'll control various squadrons and help them achieve the mission goals. You'll have to transmit information, enemy localization, terrain data. You'll also be able to direct them, change their goal. To conclude, you'll be able to "possess" a squadron and control them to help them achieve the goal.
This will be using some of the FPS features, so it is planned after a working enough version of the FPS.
- The final goal is to offer a multiplayer mode where RTS and FPS mode will co-exist in the same game.
Of course, everything here is theoretical and could change depending on our abilities, time and ambitions.
