Path to Menzoberranzan is a **custom campaign** modification for Baldur’s Gate III.
Return once more to the Forgotten Realms in an entirely new tale, filled with forgotten magic, wicked monsters, and compelling companions.
Path to Menzoberranzan is an ambitious mod for Baldur's Gate 3 that adds **an entirely new standalone adventure completely separate from the events of the Absolute War.** This story is focused on the bright mercantile city of Athkatla and the dark and perilous nature of the Underdark, far from Baldur's Gate and the tale that we already know.
Take part in an** original story** that sees players revisit areas from the classic **Baldur's Gate 2: Shadows of Amn** and also explore entirely new lands filled with terrors and wonders alike. The campaign is set to feature a new protagonist with a new personal quest and up to 8 brand-new companions, each with their own personal agendas and some of whom will be romanceable.
Spanning **three acts,** Path to Menzoberranzan takes players through several iconic locations.
In Act I, players will visit **Athkatla**, shop at iconic places like the **Adventurer Mart**, and explore the long-abandoned dungeon once occupied by the malicious mage Jon Irenicus as well as many more locations yet to be announced. **In Act II the player will begin their journey to the titular location, Menzoberranzan and Act III will feature the drow city itself.**
Some notable features planned for Path to Menzoberranzan:
- Fully voiced companions and world NPCs—no AI-generated voiceovers;
- Custom concept art and 3D assets as needed;
- Handcrafted visual style for Menzoberranzan, built from scratch;
- Multiple side quests on top of the main overarching story;
- New items, outfits, NPC models;
- Original musical theme.
Path to Menzoberranzan is a community-driven project where everyone contributes for free out of love for Baldur’s Gate III and Forgotten Realms. The PtM team already consists of *more than 100 participants*, some of which are seasoned professionals in their field and some of which are enthusiastically learning as they go.
The team operates under a decentralized structure, with each department guided by an experienced lead.
The first playable beta will include Act I locations (Athkatla), and is expected to be available mid-2025. The full release date will depend on beta feedback and is likely years away.
